To find site:
On the A84 two miles south of Doune watch out for left turn at sign for Cuthil Brea and camping site. Access is at far end of lane with passing passes and speed humps. People are asked not to arrive before midday and the reception is closed 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

Blair Drummond is a Caravan Club affiliated campsite. The site is open from mid March to early January and non member are accepted but not tent campers. The main part of the site is enclosed in a former walled garden. There are some pitches around the outside of the walled part. There are many mature trees in and around the site. There are 88 pitches of which 85 are on hardstandings, some on chipped granite but mainly open block paving which the grass grows through. Some pitches are occupied by seasonal users. There is one toilet block which is of a very good standard with spacious shower cubicles. Toilet cleaning times seem to be a bit elastic! Reception sells a few essentials. Site wide WiFi is available, you sign up and pay online. Television seems a bit problematic and getting a satellite signal requires careful pitch selection. For children there is an adventure style playground and a small kick about area. For those arriving late there is a parking area outside the site barrier with electrics. Whilst Blair Drummond is a very nice site at £23.50 a night it is a touch expensive given that we are outside the peak season. Date of visit late September 2011.

There is plenty of opportunities for days out from the site. Stirling is only a few miles away and Stirling Castle is well worth a visit. Stirling itself has a good shopping centre. There is a Park and Ride near the M9 which is worth using as parking in Stirling can be difficult and expensive. For children the Blair Drummond Safari Park, virtually, next to the site will be popular. For shopping there is both Sainsbury’s and Tesco in Stirling.

This site is on the banks of the River Lochay where you can fish in the river from the site for free.

A well kept neat site with a mix of hard standing and grass pitches. A single toilet block is in the centre of the site. The far end cul-de-sac is very quiet but I prefer a spot by the fishing :-)

The warden here was a bit of a ‘jobsworth’ some days and could not help enough on others, but still friendly.

Killin itself is famous for the Falls of Dochart and is at the end of Loch Tay. As an aside I would not recommend the mobile Fish & Chip van parked in the village but the pub across from the site entrance is brilliant, 30 seconds to get there and Hours to get back and the meals are good value as well :-)

Will accept non CCC visitors

Last visited June 2007

The most recent of many visits to this site.

All the pitches have been made hard standing and the toilet block has been renovated (not that there was anything wrong with it but it was CC policy to revamp toilet blocks a couple of years ago.

The hotel across the road (the Coach House) was pretty bad for a few years (new owners who were only interested in bikers and allowed the place to run down) but has changed hands again and has been repaired and redecorated and is now a very good for meals.
There are plenty places to eat in Killin itself and it’s only about a mile into the village from the site.

Plenty of pleasant walks of varying lengths and it’s a pleasant day out to drive to Oban - there is also a bus to Oban most days which allows you to spend a few hours there before catching the bus back.

All in all a great site and worth a visit. Booking is advisable as it gets busy particularly at weekends.

This is a gem of a site nestling hard into the Ochil Hills close to Stirling and Bannockburn. It is sited on a bust road and exiting must be with care. Some nutters on it!!!

It is an excellently run private site with full facilities for campers, Tuggers & MHers.

There is an excellent play area for kids which is safe & secure.

Pitches are in ’areas’ and not a la CC, which makes a nice change. If I have a criticism, it would be that the pitches are rather small against the CC sized pitches. A large outfit with awning would be a tight squeeze.

The toilets are beyond reproach. Outside of the two big Clubs they are the cleanest I’ve seen. They are EXTREMELY busy first thing in the morning as tenters are the first in and the site can accommodate a large number of them. The disabled toilets are also of an extremely high standard.

Within the immediate area are Stirling, Bannockburn and the Wallace Monument. The nice town of Bridge of Allan is also a short drive away. At Tillicoultry there is an outlet village where some bargains can be found (Nike have a big shop there).
You also should visit Puddleducks tearoom. Really nice place with good food - just along from the site - DON’T think about walking - see road report at top! :OP

Thoroughly recommend the site.

Update: (Sept. 2006)
Witches Craig is still the only commercial site Cathy and I will stay on. Can’t recommend it highly enough - love the place................and the farm shop along the road is superb value for money.
