Site visited June 2002

This is a Caravan Club site for members only. It is very clean and tidy with friendly wardens. It is ideally situated, just a few minutes drive from the main resort and only a few minutes walk from the funfair. Although the funfair did look a little dodgy and I wouldn’t allow any of my family in it!

There is a play park in the adjoining field but it’s too far away to allow children to go there on their own. So if you like that relaxed feeling of sitting in your van having a cup of tea while watching your children safely playing in the park you won’t be able to do this here.

The town of Southport was quite dissapointing, very small with not much to offer. The seaside again was dissapointing. I was expecting it to be a smaller version of Blackpool but it was nothing like it. There were only a few amusement arcades and no seaside shops at all. Everything also seemed to close early. We went at the end of June and struggled to find anything open after 9pm.

Overall the site was what you would expect from a Caravan Club site but didn’t cater for families in my opinion. I felt that the resort of Southport was a favourite with more mature visitors and the site reflected this. We won’t be returning to this site at least not until we have retired.

This site has hook-ups for around fifty touring caravans on two fields with an overflow field for rallies etc. There are lots of ’park homes’ away from the touring park. One very well kept toilet block houses’ free showers and toilets, with washing facilities for pots and pans, chemical disposal point, laundry etc.

The barrier is locked from 11pm until 7am. There is no shop on site but reception will order newspapers. There is a childrens’ play area which has swings and climbing frames near to an ornamental pond. This is a quiet site, which I would recommend to anyone who looks for peace & tranquillity.

This is a beautiful site and ideal for everyone. If you are a family with children then there is a play area to keep the children happy for hours or if you prefer a quieter break there are also many peacful areas away from the play area.

It is a Caravan Club site, although non-members are very welcome. The usual CC standards are met on this site. The pitches are lovely and flat, the toilet blocks immaculate and there is a shop and information shed. The wardens at this site were incredibly friendly and helpful. The site has many beautiful views and is right next to the Wirral Country Park.

The surrounding area is beautiful, so green and airy. The nearby town of Birkenhead is great for shopping. We spent three hours there and probably only saw about a third of everything. There was so much to see. To be honest I was expecting Birkenhead to be a little run down, mainly thanks to comments from Lilly Savage! However I was pleasantly surprised.

This is one of the best sites I have visited and defintely the best CC site. I will be going back to this one for sure.
