North of Eindhoven on A50, exit at junction 8 and take road towards Nijnsel/Sint Oedenrode. Watch out for right turn to campsite following small green camping signs.

Camping De Graspol is a little green oasis of a campsite on edge of the village of Nijnsel just north of Eindhoven. It is run by a very friendly and enthusiastic couple, who both speak very good English, and have set out to create a campsite in very natural and spacious surroundings.
There are about 60 pitches in total all hedged in grasses and shrubs. The first section of pitches vary in size but the one we had I would classify as large. Further into the site there are pitches which can only be described as enormous, in the region of 200 sq mts. The larger pitches demand an extra premium of a few euros a night. All pitches, regardless of size have their own water and waste points. You have a choice of electrical supply rated at 6/10/16 amps. They all accept CEE17 blue plugs. The 6 amp supply includes 4kws per night usage after which a charge of 50 cents per kw is made. For 10 and 16 amp supply there is an extra nightly charge but you don’t pay any extra per kilowatt. The electrical supply is controlled by a state of the art system in reception and provides exactly what you ask for so with the 6 amp supply there is no leeway as you might get on other campsites. With the exception of the large pitches cars are to be parked away from the pitches in the provided car park

There is one toilet block which is to a very high standard with seated toilets and paper provided. Bread can be ordered from reception although there are a couple of bakers not far from the site. As a bonus De Graspol offers free WiFi which is campsite wide. Being not far from the motorway a slight traffic hum can be heard and there is a little aircraft noise but we did not find either intrusive during our stay. For those looking for a non all singing all dancing campsite as so many Dutch sites are this could well be worth considering for either an overnight stop or longer stay in this part of Holland. Date of visit June 2011. The site accepts the ACSI Card out of the main season.

There are many opportunities for cycle rides from the campsite and the nearby town of Sint Oedenrode is only a short ride away. Also in the town centre are a couple of supermarkets and many other shops. The City of Eindhoven is relatively near as is the Van Gogh village of Nuenen.

From A35/N35 turn left onto Oostweg at camping sign. Turn right onto Gronausestraat, again following campsite signs and right at traffic lights into Esmarkeln. Proceed with care as it can get a bit crowded when children are being collected from the school. At the top of the road turn left and campsite is a short distance on the right.

This campsite is situated on the edge of an urban area on the outskirts of the town of Enschede. The majority of units on site are either permanent static caravans or long term campers. However the campsite does have a nice touring section with each pitch having its own water and waste disposal point. Electric connections are rated at 10amps and use CEE17 blue connectors. There is also a tent field with water stand pipes and a few electric points. Children are well catered for with playground for small ones and a large kick about area for older ones plus a large, but deep, swimming pool. Most of this is set out in front of the Bar/Restaurant. The reception includes a small shop selling essentials, including a very good value Sherry! The older toilet blocks have been replaced with a modern block with seated toilets which include paper. The site accepts the ACSI Card in the low season. We were able to get all UK FTA TV stations with our 80cm dish. There is site wide WiFi which is free to use. The campsite has a fishing lake. Date of visit May 2011.

We used the site as a staging point for going further east so apart from the immediate area we did not explore very far. Reception have leaflets with details on the local area. Being Holland there are many safe cycleways. For shopping there is a supermarket on the main road not far from the site.

The site is situated within 20 minutes walk of Delft and we really enjoyed our 10 days there last year.

It is a large site with an area set aside for static's owned by Dutch residents and also several static's for Eurocamp (they also have tents erected there)

Pitches are level and the ones for vans and motorhomes are semi-hardstanding, 2 or 3 units with plenty of space between on pitches which are separated by hedges. There is ample space for tents too.

We parked the motorhome up for 10 days and used public transport to get around, it was nice for Graeme to have a break from driving after 2 weeks in England and with another week to get down to St Malo for our return to Jersey.

The site has a good information point, a well stocked shop a decent size pool and kiddies pool, play area etc

A restaurant, take away and bar with good food and friendly service. There is ample entertainment laid on for children too. Most important is that it is quiet after 10pm. The toilets and showers (including disabled) are first class and thoroughly cleaned every day. Water points are ample and rubbish is deposited into shutes which take it to underground containers. There is a chemical disposal point and refill point for water tanks.

Loads to see and do from this site, a lake closeby with a small beach area, loads of interesting walks and of course the inimitable cycle paths. Wildlife abounds on site with rabbits, ducks and moorhens all calling round for breakfast!! The rabbits love McVities wholemeal!

Catch the bus into Delft (better than trying to find a parking space) Two markets weekly, a large one Thursdays where you can taste all the cheeses etc., and a smaller one of Saturdays which also has a variety of 'bric a brac' stalls. Plenty of places to eat in Delft but we recommend Cafe de Waag, the food here is excellent and inexpensive. Some of the corner cafes are good also but you can get quite 'high' depending on which one you frequent and that applies to non smokers as well!!

Visits to Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Den Haag and Scheveningen are a must whether by your own transport or by public, if you are using your own transport then don't forget Kinderdijk and the windmills - its time stood still!

We could ramble on for hours about this site, we enjoyed our stay so much and we are returning this year!

We visited this site as part of a CCC rally at Easter, and it is situated about 15 min walk from Delft town centre. Delft itself is only 15-20 miles from Hook of Holland ferry port.

The site is in partial woodland with around 300 pitches all good size. The site does back onto a fairly large lake.
Restaurant, bar, shop, kids play area, and a modest size swimming pool all on site.

Delft town centre as I mentioned before is a 15 min walk away or 5 mins on the regular bus service that stops outside the site. You can buy a strip of bus tickets (recommened) from reception. It is is very pretty town to visit, home of course to the Delft pottery which we thought was very expensive!!!!

Other tourist places are Rotterdam 30 m The Hague 7 miles with a superb beach nearby, but I have forgotten it’s name.

Amsterdam is about 40 miles away so we caught the train which took about 35 mins.

We drove to the Keukenhof gardens (open march-may) and made a day of it , we drove back via sea route.

We stopped on this site for 6 nights and I found this was just not long enough to see everything.

I’m pleased to read you enjoyed Delftse Hout Mick. We have stayed there the last three years, we park up the camper and use the efficient public transport (gives Graeme a break from driving!) The name of the beach resort by Den Haag is Scheveningen - definitely worth a visit, there is a special ticket for the bus/tram you can buy at reception, it costs 15 guilders and allows up to 5 people to take a return trip there - darn good value for money. They also have static’s to rent and grass bungalows.

Mobile Reception Good

Touring Cheques Accepted

To find site:
Leave A13 motorway at junction 9, turn towards Pijnacker and follow signs to campsite.

Camping Delftse Hout is part of a greater recreational area which includes other leisure facilities including a large lake which is used for fishing and swimming, all this is very popular with the residents of Delft, particularly at weekends.

The site has touring pitches, seasonal and permanent pitches. The touring pitches are generally level and of about 90 sq meters in size and set out in small groups so it does not feel crowded even when the site is almost full. Most pitching areas are surrounded by shrubs and mature trees which provide shade.
The excellent toilet/shower facilities are in the same building as Reception. Although this is centrally situated it is some distance from the furthest pitches, particularly when it comes to chemical toilet and rubbish disposal.
The Reception was most helpful in providing information on local transport and local attractions. Adjacent to the main reception area is small shop selling most essentials although Reception will direct you to a more comprehensive supermarket if required.
To complete the amenities of the site are a bar/reception; swimming pool and children’s play area. Bicycles can also be hired from reception.
Delft is only a short distance away and the energetic would find it a reasonably easy walk. However there is an excellent bus service that leaves every 15 minutes, on weekdays, from the site entrance. Tickets can be purchased at reception. The bus will also take you to Delft railway station where you can take trains to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and many other destinations.
The town of Delft is a delight and you can wander around for hours.

Can I say that myself and husband have been camping on this site many times since 1986 with our tourer and tents and hiring their mobile homes.
Fantastic place. Pim the manager and his staff have always looked after us and made us feel very welcome. We have recommended this site to many Friends and family who have also stayed there. Great base also for those hungry carp fisherman as the lake is just five minutes walk away.
unfortunately now we have to rent their mobile statics off them as my Husband can no longer tow (due to his 4 heart attacks) but is the best site we have ever been to.

DELFTSE HOUT – 2006

"This is Our sixth visit to this site and it gets better each year".

RECEPTION:
Warm and friendly and nice to be remembered and welcomed back. This year we had yet another different pitch in fact the best one we have had to date, not too far from the facilities block yet nice and quiet.
Reception is open from 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm though there is someone there until 8.30pm for late arrivals, best to phone if you are going to arrive late.

RESTAURANT/BAR:
Open from 5pm to 9pm a little too early closing for our liking 10pm would be better but they did stay open later on the nights there was World Cup football. It is closed on Mondays and Thursdays though. There is a 3 course set menu each evening at 13 euros or you can choose from the a la carte menu. There is large patio for the finer evenings. We only ate there once as since we bought the Cadac we find cooking ‘at home’ more of a pleasure than a chore and we also have a couple of favourite restaurants in Delft.

TOILETS/SHOWERS:
Some of the best facilities we have seen on sites, thoroughly cleaned each morning using a power washer and then checked for soap and paper towels and toilets cleaned again in the evening. Showers are free and adjustable for water temperature. There are also personal wash cubicles and communal wash basins if you don’t mind watching other people do their ablutions.

DISABLED FACILITIES:
The site is well accessible for disabled persons. There is a large disabled shower and WC room. We could not see how someone using a wheelchair could access the restaurant though.

WASHING/LAUNDRY:
Covered area outside for dish washing there are more sinks in the laundry room. We always wash up in the caravan, not seeing the point of traipsing to and fro with pots and pans when you have the facilities on board. There are three washing machines and two tumble driers and separate sinks for cloths washing. A wash costs 6 Euros including powder, spin dryer is free.

SHOP:
Well stocked shop with fresh bread and croissants each morning. The shop is open from 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm, you can also buy Camping Gaz here, we had to exchange our 904 and it cost 17 Euros though the 907 which is bigger only cost 14.20 Euros in France, so it is more expensive here.

SITE IN GENERAL:
Pitches are good in size some with water and cable TV points. The swimming pool is relatively small and 1.40 metres deep and a smaller pool for children. A well equipped play area and undercover table tennis. There is also a recreation hall. Lots of wildlife to be seen, rabbits, wild pigeons, ducks, the occasional pheasant and a large family of ravens who, delighted us in taking bread and feeding their young. The site cat gave us lots of laughs pursuing the birds without success.
There is now an outdoor Wi-Fi connection for those of you who like to check email and clic-uk

THE AREA IN GENERAL:
A short walk takes you to the lake, where you can swim or fish or just take a leisurely stroll. The city of Delft is a 15 minute walk and is steeped in history. Visit www.delft.nl for more info.
Public transport is brilliant, be it bus, tram or train and this site is so central for visiting the nearby cities of Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam, the North Sea beaches and all of South Holland.

IN CONCLUSION:
The site improves every year and we will definitely return. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Gaynor had returned to Delftsehout in October 2006. As you will read......

As an addition to my earlier report for Delftse Hout, we travelled up there again at the beginning of October for a week, this time we decided to stay in one their mobile homes instead of tugging the van the 1000 miles there and back from Dinan.

We stayed in a Naturhome, it was extremely comfortable, modern, clean and very well equipped, we only had to provide our own towels and tea towel.
The layout is excellent. A combined living/dining/cooking area as you enter, to your right is a bathroom with enclosed shower cubicle that was a good size, a washbasin, heater and ample storage shelves. Next to this is the double bedroom with double bed, hanging space, dressing table fitment and again plenty of storage. On the left of the living area is a smaller two people bedroom with a single bed, two seats and a table which convert to a further single and a bunk bed, hanging space. The kitchen was well equipped with 4 burner hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and all the pots, pans and utensils you will need.
The living area is an L shaped seating unit, a large dining table and two chairs, Truma blown air heating covers the whole unit. Colour TV (Cable) is also included. Outside there is a patio running the whole length of the unit with table and chairs and a lawned area surrounded by hedges giving a very private feel to it all.

We were very impressed and for a short break like this we would definitely hire one again.

Leave A9 motorway at the Aalsmeer junction and turn left onto N232, at roundabout take first exit onto Schipholdijk. At traffic lights turn left crossing river onto N231, cross roundabout and at second traffic lights turn left into campsite road.

This campsite is just south of Amsterdam in a Country Park of the same name. It had a more peaceful ambiance than many City sites we have used. There are several pitching areas but the main touring part is at the far end of the site. Pitch size varies but most are of a good size. Motorhomes have their own area consisting of paved hardstandings. This site can accommodate the large American style motorhomes. Electric supply is rated at 10amps using CEE 17 blue connectors.
There are three toilet blocks, all of a good standard with seated toilets but no paper provided. Showers use tokens from reception which cost 80cents each although those using the ACSI Card get one per day per person provided in the price. As well as touring pitches there is a variety of other accommodation on site. There appeared to be no water taps around the site which means water has to be collected from the toilet blocks.
There is a small shop in the reception area but be warned that prices are very high compared to nearby supermarkets. There is no bar or restaurant on site although there is a covered kitchen/mess area for tenters. Free site wide WiFi is provided although I found it problematic in terms of consistent signal strength.
The site is generally peaceful but its proximity to Schiphol Airport does mean there is some aircraft noise although there don’t seem to be any night flights. Your Camping Carnet or Passport is required to be held at reception during your stay. The site will accept payment by credit card but add a 5% fee. Date of visit May 2011.

This campsite is convenient for visiting Amsterdam with the nearest Metro station being about a 15 minute walk away to the Metro but there are also buses from near the campsite which will take you to the Metro. There are many cycle ways and walks in the immediate vicinity of the campsite. Bicycles can be hire from the campsite. A supermarket is a short drive away, reception will provide details.

This is an excellent site about an hour and a half drive from the Hook of Holland.
We travelled over on the HSS from Harwich, which is an experience in itself but not really subject matter for site reports.
Pitches are spacious and set out in separately hedged small fields.
On the occasion of our visit there had been a lot of rain and the site staff were towing caravans on and off with their tractor to try and stop the ground deteriorating further.
We visited in April in order to catch the Bulb fields in full bloom. The Dutch are extremely friendly and speak excellent English. Reception staff goes out of their way to help with any enquiries at all.
The site facilities are all excellent. The toilet block is spotless and this is the first one I have ever seen with heated floor! It is probably necessary, as the site is open all year. Site facilities include an excellent restaurant, take away, bar, laundry, shop, pool, solarium, tennis courts, fishing lake, bike hire.
The site is convenient for Leiden, The Keukenhof Gardens, Rijnsburg, and the windmills at Katwijk.
There are several beaches close by as well. A day in Amsterdam is also a must but do NOT take the car. Take the bus to Leiden and then the train. It is so much more convenient. Once in Amsterdam get a ticket from the tourist offices outside the station which allows you get on and off the buses as much as you like.

This site is one we will go back to. One final tip. There is a caravan dealers about twenty minutes from the site with one of the best accessory shops I have ever seen. Prices are substantially lower than UK [i.e. la Fuma chairs £58 instead of £125] but they do not take credit cards! You will need cash from the bank down the road. A lot of Holland is like this.

Directions: Leave the A44 Motorway at junction 7 for Oegstees/Rijnsburg and follow ANWB campsite signs [white & blue]

To Find site:- When coming through Rijnsburg the site is well signed.

Koningshof is a long established campsite popular with Brits and the Dutch. During school holidays it can be very busy, this applies to the first two weeks of May as well as the main summer period.
Pitches are in the region of about 90/100 sq metres although there are larger ones available at extra cost. They are set out in groups that vary in number. The arrangement of the pitches can make them feel cramped. In some sections you are required to leave your car in the adjacent parking area.
Electric supply is a useful 10amp. Water points are convenient to the pitches but are of the push button variety. The toilet blocks are of a good standard.
Most of the facilities are geared to towards keeping children entertained including an excellent swimming complex with both indoor and outdoor pools. There is also an adventure style playground. The site organises a lot of ’Animation’ for children during the school holidays.
There are two restaurants and a takeaway. The site shop is well stocked including UK newspapers available on the day. An excellent feature of this site is their free WiFi service which can be accessed from most touring pitches.

The beauty of this campsite is that it is so convenient to many of the visitor attractions in Holland. The fabulous Keukenhof Gardens are less than 10 miles away, reception sells tickets at a slight reduction. The Duinrell Recreation Park is about the same distance in the other direction. The site run a weekly excursion by coach to Amsterdam. Delft and Den Haag are also quite near. The coast at Katwijk is only a mile or so away from the site. If you take bicycles with you then Holland is a place that really caters for you. If you need any caravan accessories or just want a nose round a Dutch caravan dealers there is one in Voorhout a short distance from the site.
